THANKS to all of you who have
contributed to this project. Especially I want to thank:
John Gill, for resolutely assuming that this website would one day
exist (I wasn't so sure), and generously granting the right to use
photos from and links to his superb website;
Mike Fain, for advice, support, correcting errors, many slides and
prints, and unflagging encouragement;
David Fain, for enthusiastic reception of the material I sent him and
for correcting numerous errors;
Audrey Fain for her sense of humor, unfailing response to emails,
and interest, after all these eons, in UCMC climbing history;
Evan Fain for (correctly) questioning the trade-off between download
times and image quality. My solution is in the future to provide two
sets of images: ~0.2 MB for monitor display and online / server
storage; and ~2 MB or ~4 MB, as indicated, on CDs, for backup storage
and
prints.
Bob and Joy Kaylor for trying to answer impossible questions concerning
the UCMC history, and for furnishing FIVE HUNDRED SLIDES (which I have
almost completed scanning, they will be up on the database soon)!
Bob Schluter for his contribution of forty-four heavyweight (4+
MB/slide) clean (not diseased with dust and mold as many of mine are)
slide images PLUS a list of 1-1 captions on paper and floppy PLUS his
warm regards. He has set a standard we all should strive to meet!
Also many thanks for his corrections to our misremembrance of various
aspects of the trip to No Name Basin in 1955.
Rich Goldstone for showing all of us that age per se is no barrier to
top-end climbing, and for sharing with us over 200 spectacular climbing
photos spanning 50 years, and for his encouragement of the project and
for correcting
numerous errors.
Steve Derenzo for his characteristic enthusiasm and promise of many
boxes of climbing slides to scan.
Nan Hedl for her warm recollections and promise of whatever slides /
prints she can find.
